Department of Post releases Special Cover to honour important events. As we know Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is the first Home Minister of India born on 31st October 1875. A lesser-known fact is that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the regular visitors at the heritage property – Birla House, which is the residence of Mr Yash Birla and his family. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel breathed his last and his last journey was done at Birla House which makes it a heritage property.

CM Eknath Shinde, with Mr Yash Birla for India Post Special Cover Release, graced his presence at Birla House on this historic occasion. He said “Iron man Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi have contributed greatly to the freedom of the country. Today I feel fortunate to unveil a Special Cover envelope dedicated to Sardar Patel’s work of national unity and integrity in the historic building Birla House, where these great men lived.”

Mr Yash Birla said, “Since childhood, I have heard stories about these great men being present at Birla House. The presence of the honourable CM Eknath Shinde is making me feel the same way my forefathers must have felt in the presence of great dignitaries.” He added, “the essence of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel lives in Birla House as he lived in this house and breathed his last here as well. It is my honour to be a part of this Special Cover Release by India Post on his Birth anniversary, and I am very humbled and thankful to all of you for being a part of this historic occasion.”

Yash Birla felicitated all of the dignitaries. Ms Swati Pandey, Postmaster general, said “The only reason behind the release of this Special Cover is to pay a humble tribute to the man who was not only one of the greatest freedom fighters of our country but also who has made it possible to unify India at a time of extreme socio-political anarchy. The current and future generations should know and realize the contribution of Sardar Patel in shaping the political map of India into what it is today.”

Dr Shrikant Shinde, Member of Lok Sabha, Shaina N. C, Spokesperson of BJP, and Dhairyasheel Mane, Member of Parliament, were among other dignitaries present along with CM Eknath Shinde with Mr Yash Birla for India Post Special Cover Release. The release of the Special Cover by India Post and the stamp of Birla House is a great honour for the Birla family. This event marks yet another historic moment at Birla House.
